Bread Machine Recipes

Portuguese Sweet Bread
This is  my  all time  favorite  bread machine  recipe. This recipe is  converted from a recipe I used  long before I ever owned
a bread machine. 2 lb loaf.
.
The lemon extract is optional... I think it makes the bread.

     2 1/4 tsp. yeast
     4 cups  bread flour
       1/2 c & 1 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp.  salt
     2 egg
4 tbsp. & 2 tsp. butter or margarine, softened
         2/3 cup  milk
      2 Tbsp. & 2 tsp. water
1/2 to  1 tsp. lemon extract

Place all ingredients in order listed.  Select light crust setting.  Note
the crust will be very brown almost burnt looking (does not affect flavor) due to high sugar content in bread.

This is great as toast, and believe it or not it makes a great tuna
sandwich. This is not a light airy bread , it is a heavy bread!

I hope you  enjoy it as much as I  do!
